I hired Lindemann to inspect an odor coming through the chimney, they sent a camera up and noticed the flue tile joints were cracked and recommended replacing flue with stainless liner and they thought this would correct odor issue as tiles were glazed with creosote, so removing the tiles should remove the odor. Fast forward to the winter and a few fires later and unfortunately, the smell returned. It seems our house was too tight from some of the remodeling we had done and the house was trying to draw outside air in through the firebox, which I had suspected was a big part of the original problem.I expressed my frustration over the unresolved issue and they agreed to return to clean out firebox and smoke chamber and seal everything and install a gas log set at fair price, so unfortunately we had to switch from wood burning to gas, but now our fireplace is usable and the odor issue that plagued our home has been corrected. I give this company huge credit for standing behind their work and coming back out on several occasions to work towards finding the proper solution for our home. Big credit to Joe B. for his dedication and commitment to his work. He's an asset to the company. I would highly recommend Lindemann Chimney Service.read more

I needed a chimney liner and some exterior cracks repaired. Lindemann responded to my request for service very promptly. Once on sight their team was professional and very efficient, not to mention fearless, given that one of their workers had to ascend my very steep chimney and work on it at a very significant height. I cannot say enough about the employees of Lindemann Chimney. I had a problem with water condensation in my furnace and hot water heater flue, and the man who came at 2PM on a Saturday, only to give an estimate, worked until 9PM until the chimney was cleared of debris. Carbon monoxide had been building up and he wanted our family to be safe. Two more employees came back on the following Monday to finish the job, both putting in an additional 5 hours to re-route the piping. They were so polite, cleaned up exceptionally well. Allen from Lindemann came out for a service call of our gas fireplace. Not only was he friendly and patient as I was running late for our scheduled time, he was thorough and educational throughout the appointment. He provided me with options to the problem and even agreed to check other fireplaces while he was here. Upon return to install the work decided he was neat and efficient with installation. Lindemann was great to work with. The worked performed was delivered as promised. We had substantial damage to our chimney, cracked from foundation to the cap. Lindemann, repaired-replaced-retuckpointed-recapped our chimney. I do have one recommendation for improvement, in quoting this project. It seemed that we had to chase each of the masonry contractors for estimates. Would have liked to see a quicker turnaround and response, weekly turnaround would be sufficient. This process took three weeks to gather pricing from the three contractors whom quoted.read more

I am the second owner of my home. I became a widow after 23 years of marriage 18 years looking at my wood burning fireplace. Do you think I was going to use my wood burning fireplace dragging the wood from outside my garage? The answer is no. I found Lindemann Chimney Service on Angie's List and set up an appointment to discuss converting the fireplace to gas. First came my appointment with Lindemann working with Shawn Owens,got the gas lines installed (separate company) worked with Shawn with a 24in Designer Series Split Oak gas set with an 18 in Burner Pan. Logs come with a lifetime warranty against defects and the burner with a 10 year warranty. Also Shawn painted the new rear panel black once it was installed. Here is the payoff . .Remote control . .On/Off remote to light the fireplace. Amazing and incredible and would certainly recommend Lindemann if you are on the fence.read more

A crew from Lindemann Chimney came to clean my gutters... They were professional and efficient. Spring 2018 was a record year for rainfall in Chicagoland. My gutters were clogged with sludge, seedlings and small trees. Before the gutter cleaning, rain was completely bypassing my gutters. After the cleaning, water passed through my gutters like Niagara Falls! The crew also addressed the need for a downspout 'elbow' for more efficient water flow from the top roof to the lower roof to the gutter. I am so impressed with the service, I am having another crew come next week for a chimney inspection and cleaning!read more
