    Fireplace Spark Control

Lindemann Chimney Service in Northern Chicago provides excellent service, as recognized in Angie’s List. An important element of our service includes our chimney inspection. One of the things we look for are working fireplace screens or glass doors.

The Importance of a Chimney Inspection

Recently, a home in Amarillo Texas caught fire as a result of an unattended fire. Apparently the spark arrestor screens were left open and the homeowner had left the room. Sparks can travel quite a distance and have been known to launch more than two feet. Keep in mind that all it takes is for the spark to connect with a combustible material and it’s all downhill from there.

If you are missing a spark screen or glass door we would be happy to show you a variety of styles and options. Here are some examples of finishes available.

Whether you purchase them from us or another place our concern is that you prevent sparks from traveling from your fireplace. On another note, woodstoves can also launch sparks and this is why woodstove manufacturers specify certain sized hearth protection/stove boards.
