gas insertWhen we think of fireplace services we often relate the task to wood-burning units.  For those with a gas fireplace, it is important to schedule regular maintenance of their gas burning logs as well.  This service is key to preserving an efficiently burning fireplace while also ensuring that the gases are able to exit through the chimney eliminating deadly air quality conditions.

Here’s what to expect when having a certified technician service your gas fireplace and logs:

    • The technician will typically remove loosened creosote from the firebox if the unit was previously burning wood. The gas logs will also be removed, inspected, and cleaned.
    • The gas piping and chimney damper valve will both be examined to ensure that the damper is opening during usage.
    • If your unit has a burning pan containing sand, the sand will be spread evenly allowing the fire to burn equally across the pan.
    • The servicer will also verify that there are no gas leaks in the piping.
    • Before leaving, the technician will reassemble the logs and may spray them with a gas log soot remover to eliminate any remaining soot and debris.

At Lindemann Chimney Service, we offer a number of gas fireplace services. Our number one goal is to keep the community in which we live in safe by providing regular inspections and quality maintenance. Thinking of replacing your wood-burning fireplace?
